Muscle vs. Fat

Muscle vs. Fat

Muscle does not weigh more than fat but it is more dense. This is why a muscular 250lb person looks very different from a flabby 250lb person. If you are working out and the scale is not moving downward as fast as you would like it could be because you are adding muscle while losing fat. Lifting weights is important because muscle at rest burns 300% more calories than fat at rest per day. By adding just 5lbs of muscle you can burn an extra 10,950 calories per year.
